So Christmas is right around the corner. In this day and time what does it mean? It is supposed to be the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, instead, we the human race can't seem to look up from our phones long enough to notice a nativity scene in a neighbors yard. In fact I think if they removed the GPS feature from our phones most people couldn't find their garage.
Now I don't want to sound like some old fuddy duddy, but I do want everyone reading this to imagine the world in 40 years. We won't be walking upright, our necks will be permanently bent over or our eye balls will start evolving out of our chin just so we can see this great creation.
If you think I am complaining about technology, nope, I am thinking merely of the hunting manufacturers that will need to reconfigure all their products completely. With this world all staring downward, it might be necessary to have some form of mirror on the bottom limb just so we can see through our peep sight. All blinds will have reflective floors tilted outward so you can see game heading your way. Now that I say that, I just realized who actually invented the cell phone....TREE STAND COMPANIES. Yep, they were self fulfilling profits. They knew that if mankind would change into nothing but down lookers, they would have the only way to hunt critters. Boy did Brooks and I get out at the right time. I used to work for Bushnell, a great optics company and I know they offer the angled diopter on their spotting scopes but I am guessing the bino world is about to tank. What good does 10 power optics do when you can only see straight down.
Recently my wife and I trademarked the statement "In Life....there is no pause, no rewind, no fast forward...There is Just Play."
At this time during the holidays what is more important than reflecting on our life. Once we are born the granules of sand are passing through our hourglass of life...we can't pause, we can't fast forward, and we definitely can't rewind. OUR PLAY BUTTON IS DEPRESSED AT BIRTH. Yep God did that one...but I am pretty certain he wasn't looking down on his I Phone Six when he did it.
This year you might want to look your mother or father in their eyes, smile and actually say the words "I Love You", because in forty years nary a human will make eye to eye contact, we won't be able to actually speak.
If you want this wonderful sport to continue please check out my latest endeavor; Drakes Adventures. It is a perfect gift for every little hunter out there. Plus you get to hear my voice over and over and over, just kidding, there is a head phone jack. www.drakesadventures.com
